Freddy’s Tucan – Basilio Badillo 245 – Great breakfast joint and our go-to place.

A Page In The Sun – Lazaro Cardenas 179 – Coffee drinks and sandwiches. Great selection of English-language books for beach and poolside reading. Half a block from condo across from the Park walking directly toward the beach.

Joe Jack’s Fish Shack – Basilio Badillo 212 – The first place we ate in Vallarta. Reliably good fish tacos and a lunch staple.

La Palapa – Pulpito 103 @ Los Muertos Beachfront – Fine dining and beachfront. Romantic setting with tables in the sand or in the open-air restaurant.

Archie’s Wok – Rodriguez 130 – Asian fusion with a nice atmosphere, and very popular.

Pancho’s Takos – Basilio Badillo 162. Delicious tacos. Super casual. Long lines but worth the wait.

Daiquiri Dick’s – Olas Altas 314. Fine dining on the beachfront with great drinks! Also a great lunch and breakfast option.

Kashi Sushi – Avenue of the Americas #343, Col. Lazaro Cardenas, Puerto Vallarta – Delicious sushi in downtown.

Cuates y Cuetes – Los Muertos Beachfront @Rodriguez. Very casual beachfront bar/restaurant. Local gringos hang out here.

Vista Grill – Púlpito 377 – Great views, innovative Mexican cuisine using fresh, local ingredients.

Ocean Grill – South Bay, and accessible only by hiking or boat. This place is an incredible daytime lunch excursion, and well worth it. You need to make reservations online. No children under 14.

Café des Artistes – Located in an old house in the center of Puerto Vallarta, this restaurant has 23 years of history and offers luxury, elegance, and comfort in a unique natural environment. Entertainment and food are great.

Que Pollazo – Ignacio L Vallarta 268 – Our favorite nearby stand for roasted chickens, peppers, beans, potatoes, rice and coleslaw. We get this for lunch and take it up to enjoy on the Sky Terrace.

El Pollo Feliz – Blvd. Francisco M. Ascencio 8072 – Fast food for picnicking on the Sky Terrace: roasted chickens, tortillas, rice and beans at a very low price. http://pollofeliz.com/sucursales/

Taco Stands – On Rodriguez and on Manuel Dieguez @Olas Altas; the tacos al pastor (pork on the spit) on Diguez are to die for; the carna asada tacos are better on Rodriguez.

The Red Cabbage Café – Delightful experience with dishes from all over Mexico. Take a cab for the short ride up the mountain.

Pinata Juice Bar – This is a new establishment by two really nice guys who built the building themselves. The juice combinations are organic, healthy and total refreshing. Recommend the Verde.

Barcelona Tapas – If you don’t mind a good walk down the Malecon and then up a steep hill and some stairs, you can eat many of the amazing tapas plates with no guilt because you earned the calories. One of the best meals we’ve had in PV.

Dianita – This sweet little place is just behind our building and is a favorite of locals. Named after the owner’s daughter, it is an expensive breakfast and lunch option with local flare.

Bar La Playa – A new, small bar just up from Page in the Sun. Specialty cocktails and a few munchies.

Tre Piatti Restaurant – A more recent opening in Old Town at Lazaro Cardenas No. 292. Great chef who will personalize your meal with delicious home made pasta. Every dish we’ve tried has been fantastic, but it is on the pricier side. Great special occasion restaurant.

Los Muertos Brewing –Lazaro Cardenas 302 – A great option for wood-fired oven-baked pizza, burgers, and brews just up the street.

Paris Café bakery – There are two locations within a short walk from the condo at Pino Suarez 158, but we prefer the one where they actually do the baking. Is there anything we don’t love from this grab-and-go pastry stand? Not so far.

Basilio Comer & Beber – Basilio Badillo 258 – Amazing pizzas and other simple dishes, as well as small plates. Great with the chilled white wines.

Archie’s Wok – Rodriguez 130 – Asian fusion with a nice atmosphere, and very popular.
